Day 11 - Recycling Those Holiday Cards

Now that the holidays are over and you've got all those cards people sent you, what do you do with them? It would be a shame to just throw them out. How about recycling. We have a mail system here in our house, it might sound silly but it has it's uses. Everyone has a "mailbox" and we write notes back and forth leaving them in the other persons box. The kids boxes are hanging on their doors and my husbands and mine hang on our office door. Tomorrow I'll go though how to make them and different ways to hang them. We recycle old cards into little note cards that we can then use to write to each other on.

They are really easy to make and take little time. All you need are some "fancy scissors", the ones that cut patterns like pinking shears, some paper, some old cards, a hole punch, and some ribbon/yarn/string. First you have to rip or cut the front off the card, recycle the back side you won't need it. Lay the font of the card onto a piece of paper and trim around the edge of the front of the card and the paper with your "fancy scissors." Now the paper and the font of the card should be the same size. Take your hole punch and punch two holes in the top or the top corner, which ever you prefer, I chose the top middle for mine. Thread a piece of ribbon though the holes and knot them on the front. Cut the ribbon so it has pretty little tale. You now have some wonderful little note cards.
